Happily the sore throat only lasted a day...now it is on to the sniffles :)

Today was made up of more resting, starting a knitted beret, and watching a DVD from the History of the World Conference, put out by Vision Forum. Highly recommend the videos & audio from that conference!

In our Bible-in-a-year reading yesterday, we read a chapter in Matthew about the Magi, and it reminded me about a sermon preached recently in our church. We are going through the book and when we arrived at this chapter, an interesting observation was made about these Magi.

Where did they come from? Why were they watching that star? Well! It may be that they were students of Daniel! Men who studied under him would have been very familiar with the Pentateuch and the Prophets up to Daniel. They would have been waiting for that star, and keeping a close eye on prophesied events. They knew it was not just a King Who was born but THE King. The Magi, or at least their 'school', and their wisdom and intelligence must have been known the world over, and this knowledge made its way to Herod, for he might not have commanded the massacre if some random wise men came to the kingdom and talked about a prophesy. Fear struck his heart, and with good reason. I wonder if the whole school came? That would have been impressive. They probably didn't go many places en masse, so this was special.

Amazing, yes?

Tried a fun thing with a mirror and a webcam...

My friend, Kate, made us cookies with our names on them...

And yes.
